    Nice find! Hard to pin down an exact date The HB Made in Sweden maker’s mark is a cold stamp used before 1988. I believe the pattern is called Vira – the attached photo is from a 1950s catalog.

    Beautiful example of a Swedish style carpenters axe. Made with both round and pointed lugs and almost always with a stitched poll.

    The “blacked out” coloration is nice. I’m not sure if it was original though.

    I got a chance to see something similar not too long ago. The craftsmanship is stunning and the one in the pic is simply beautiful.

    I love the pattern on this axe. It is. It the same but reminds me of a Rockaway pattern.

    A tried and true axe pattern, and great example of the high quality Swedish steel, very little pitting at all. Looks like it’s been well kept and in good condition.

    Nice. I like axes that are cutaway, to allow you to choke up on the more when carving.

    Wow I love the look of this axe! I don’t know if the finish is from the factory but it stands out that’s why I love it!
