Hults Bruk – Montreal Pattern – Pre 1988

I got this from my grandfather’s house, I had to sand and re-oil the handle and chip out some strange red filler in the top so I could put a wedge in (the head was loose)

Handle is 32″ long, the head is stamped 2-1/4 or 2-1/2 (hard to tell). The handle is fairly skinny.

When was it made and what is the model name?

Looks like a Montreal pattern made sometime after 1960s and before 1988. The red material in the eye could be the original permabond, so it’s a pretty good guess it was made somewhere around 1970. Not sure about the handle length for that size axe head, usually for a 2-lb head it would have a shorter handle so it could be an after market handle. Thanks for sharing!
