Hults Bruk – Agdor Yankee Pattern – Pre 1988

I expect the axe head is cold stamped marks, also being pre 1988. How old is it? what do the stampings mean 1.5_3 1/2 What is axe used for e.g. tree felling? what length of the handle would it have been fitted with when new? what type of steel would the axe head been made of? What is the blue colour mean? how will I restore it? is it worth any money?

This axe was made before 1988, and after the 1960s. The stamps are for the axe head weight 1.5kg and 3 1/2 lbs. At 3.5lbs this is a larger axe intended for felling, and most likely had a handle of around 32-inches. The steel is high-quality Swedish steel. The blue paint meant it was part of the Agdor line. You can find some info about restoring on our blog: http://hultsbruk1697.se/blog/2017/01/20/how-to-replace-a-hults-bruk-axe-handle/ Hope this helps
