At first I thought this might be a Pittsburg pattern, but the blade is not long enough. My best guess is this is a broad hewing axe. The stamp indicates that this was made before 1988, probably sometime between 1950s-1970s, but hard to tell just from the stamp.

The axe might not line up with a current handle, the best way to find the proper handle size is to measure the eye. You can find info on how to measure up the eye and find a new handle here:
