I found this and noticed most I see online have the weight in different units but mine has only one. Is the other unit just rubbed off? Also, What handle should I get. Thanks!
This axe is a Yankee pattern made before 1988, probably after 1960s. I’m not sure why the weight is only stamped in lb. that is unusual. In regards to the handle length, it wasn’t uncommon for an axe of particular weight to come in multiple handle lengths. Sizing a new handle will require some measurement and trail and error, these old axes don’t always correspond to modern handle lengths. You can create a new view of axes by using any of the menus below. Filter by year produced (in decades), by the type of axe or
hatchet, or by whether or not the item has been identified.
