Hults Bruk – Turpentine Pattern – Early 1900s

Unfortunately, this axe has seen better days. There was no handle on this one and the wing on one side has broken of and on the other side it has a crack up to just under half the height of the axe. The head weight is just under 1kg. It has a H circle on the pole and ‘AGDOR’ under it. A little bit further down I can see the letters ‘HU’ It has a little bit of green paint left on it.
Can you tell me what pattern this one is? Would it make sense to repair the crack by welding it? I don’t have the broken of piece.
All advice is appreciated! thank you very much!

Turpentine pattern. This axe was made sometime between 1900s and 1930s – based on the H circle on poll. Once the axe steel is broken we don’t recommend trying to fix or weld it, unless you wanted to use it as a showpiece. Also prior to 1950s Hults Bruk axes were made of two separate steels. The main part of the head was made of iron and high-quality edge steel was then baked into the axe bit. Great piece of history.
