Hults Bruk Double Bit – Pre 1988

I found this axe in a fire pit. I cleaned it up, put a new handle in it, and sharpened it up. I’ve been hooked on Hults Bruk ever since. I have no idea how old this axe is.
Thanks

Hults Bruk 0.6kg Montreal Hatchet – Pre 1988

Hi – this axe head was bought from someone in Sweden and I cleaned it up a bit, then mounted it on a sapwood piece of hickory. I am going to donate this to a local fire department but it would be interesting to know the pattern and approximate production date. Thanks

Hults Bruk 8kg Hatchet – Pre 1988

Hatchet found in my Grandmother’s garage. Beautiful hatchet that had the original sheath with a stamped hunting scene. (Unfortunately, the sheath was dry rotted). I cleaned the axe up and it takes a wonderful edge. This hatchet goes with me every time I’m in the woods

Hults Bruk Arvika 5 Star Pre 1988

So it appears that I have happened upon a real gem at a yard sale in Northeastern Connecticut, USA. I saw the axe almost from the road, it was one of three, and as the CT pattern is my favorite pattern, I thought I was in for a treat.

As I walked up I came to realize that the owner spray painted all his tools to prevent rust. This axe was no different and it was hard to make out too much, but I could see enough to know it looked swedish, which baffled me because I had never heard of a swedish Connie.

So after a little wire wheeling, it appears to be a Hults Bruk Arvika Five Star axe.

My questions are many, but the main one is, what exactly is this axe? What was it intended for? What pattern is it, what is its age, what was its intended market, really any info at all would be appreciated.

I wonder how it came to be in Connecticut?

Interestingly enough, if the gentleman who I bought it from was its first owner, I don’t think it’s been used. It certainly shows age, but the spray paint wasn’t blemished, clearly indicating it has not been used since painting, the bit looks like it has a factory bevel, and all the other edges are sharp and ding-free.

Hults Bruk Unknown 8lb Axe Pre 1988

Found this with my father in law at his in laws house. Need help finding the appropriate handle. I’d like to know as much as I can about this axe head. The only thing I’ve done is clean the rust off, that’s when I found the makers’ marks. The head weighs approx 8lbs.

Hults Bruk – Turpentine Pattern – Pre 1988

From what I can tell, it’s a pre-1988 hatchet pattern (Kisa or predecessor). Just below the “HB Made in Sweden” stamp, there appear to be two additional cold stamps. one stamp looks like a “63” and the other, just to the left of the “63”, is a design or logo which includes a small cross near the top.

Hults Bruk – Arvika 5 Star – pre 1988

I was looking for an axe and was told to not buy from a store but to check local garage sales. We looked for 2hrs for a garage sale and came across 1 to find this Axe for $20 Australian. I was wondering if you could identify further?

A friend of ours has told us it’s from the original factory with original Handle. So it seems we got a really good find. We are getting it sharpened and cleaned this week can’t wait to start using it 🙂
