Added October 16, 2017 to 1970s, Agdor, Montreal, Yankee

Hults Bruk Agdor Montreal & Yankee – circa 1970

I notice many axes with cold stamp are dated pre-1988. I found these two axes on Vancouver Island, BC. Am wondering if the labels and factory handles/paint will allow you to date these two axes with more precision? Thanks, Colby

Hey Colby, yes it gets hard to date the axes just by the maker’s mark stamps. Thanks for sharing these! Paper labels and paint get worn down over time – with the exception of these axes you’ve found which are in great condition.

So as you know, the cold stamp puts these before 1988. But the original permabond is still in the eye of the axe. This was marketed as “Agdorfix” in the 1970.

Also HB sold a boatload of blue painted Agdor axes in the 1970. Best guess is 1970s But it could be earlier than that. Do you have a close up of the label? I’m guessing the label is an HB Agdor label and not a circle H Agdor label? Or something else?

Great find! I have one very similar in shape to the boy’s axe. What does the weight stamp say on yours? Mine says 0.6/1-1/4. Thanks!
