This one has both the HB cold stamp and the Arivka stamp with 5 stars. Likely from late 1960, as HB was transitioning the then newly acquired Arvika brand. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks James, I’ve always wondered the age. I acquired it a few years ago, put a new haft on it and it’s become my favourite! I split 6 cord of wood with it this fall and it’s become like a third hand of mine! The weight, feel and it’s balance makes it a beautiful tool to work with.
Thanks James,
I acquired her a few years back and always wondered the age. I put a new haft on her and gave her a razor edge. I can’t believe how awesome the steel is, it holds an edge like no other axe I own. ( I have a lot of axes – its a passion of mine) Anyways she has become my all time favourite and I cut and split 6 bush cord with it this fall. Just as sharp now has the first swing. Did HB make any larger than 4.5 LB? I’ve always wanted to try something even larger or have one for my collection.

You can create a new view of axes by using any of the menus below. Filter by year produced (in decades), by the type of axe or
hatchet, or by whether or not the item has been identified.

Great axe! Many fond memories as a child watching my grandfather split firewood for the winter with one of these!
