Hults Bruk Montreal Felling Axe – Post 1988

Hi, I was recently gifted this axe head. consensus says this is a Montreal Pattern…all I know is that it was issued kit for the Canadian Armed Forces..somewhere between 1967 till the 80’s..its not current issue now…can you tell me the approx. age and confirm if HB had a contract for axes for the Canadian Army.

Thanks for sharing this find. It is our Montreal pattern. The maker’s mark stamp is a hot stamp, you can see the larger outline of the stamp below the logo. The hot stamps have the logo and weights on the same side. That puts this axe production date post-1988. HB was not contracted with the Canadian Army, which isn’t to say some other agency could have purchased these. We did make a custom axe for the Canadian riding police, sold via an agent in the 70-80’s. Hults did have contracts with the Swedish army in the 60 and 70s.

I love the versatility of the Montreal felling axe.
