Hults Bruk – Rhineland Pattern – Pre 1988

    Similar to Montreal pattern, the Rhineland axe pattern has a large versatile cutting edge.

    How old? Sometime between the 1950s and 1988, based on the paint and font probably closer to 1960-70s
    Replace or keep it original? Tough to say without knowing if the handle is cracked, it looks like . The head is loose because the wood has shrunk and dried out. You can tighten if possible (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgDPkC-qsNw), If you’re going to put it back to work, I’d probably replace with a new handle. Left untreated for years, the wood has probably degraded. You can always repaint the handle to look like the original.
