Hults Bruk – Vira Pattern – 1950s

Weights 1.91 pounds and seems to have the original edge. I would love help identifying this axe. I cant find anything about the mark opposite logo or HB side.

This looks like the old Vira pattern axe. from the looks of the stamp my guess is the early 1950s. But if you’re seeing an additional steel edge it could be older than 1950s.

Prior to 1950 Hults Bruk axes were made of two separate steels. The main part of the head was made of iron and high quality edge steel was baked into the axe bit. It can be very difficult to tell if an axe was produced in this way. From 1950 to today the axe head is forged from a single piece of high-quality steel.

The weld line on the poll is a remnant from not dressing the seam when welding on the poll, common on old Swedish axes.
