Hults Bruk – Yankee Pattern Hatchet – Pre 1988
Found rusted and without a handle on a trapline in Southeastern Yukon, Canada. Well used. Based on other photos here it looks like it’s pre-1988. It’s a shame to not be able to date it more precisely – that would give some interesting insight into the history of the area and who it might have belonged to.
Any thoughts about the overlapping marks on the bit (seen from the side with the maker’s mark)?

These are the best before and after rust images I’ve seen, thanks for sharing! HB sold a lot of Yankee pattern axes up north in AK and CA. It’s definitely made before 1988.
The overlapping marks on the bit (seen from the side with the maker’s mark) – It could be from where the paint was thinner near the grind?
