This one is a turpentine pattern axe and the blue paint means it was part of the Agdor line of axes. The blue paint started in the 1960s, and the cold stamp HB maker’s mark was discontinued in 1988. Most likely the original handle was painted red.
My guess is the star was added by a customer using a hand stamp, it’s not something we’ve done to my knowledge.
